Frequently asked questions.

where will we be hunting?

We will be hunting about 45 minutes from Park City and 50 minutes from Heber City. The “town” of Castle Rock is where the hunt will take place. Detailed directions will be emailed prior to the hunt, and your guide will also make sure to drop you a pin for the location.

What will we be hunting?

We have both pheasant and chukar available for a possible mixed bag of upland birds. You are able to choose how many roosters and/or hen pheasant you would like afield. Or if you prefer we can provide a mixed bag of both.

What if i don’t have any of the needed gear?

We will have complimentary orange hats and vests available, as well as safety glasses if a hunter does not have sunglasses of their own. If you prefer to have a hat of your own, we have Keetley Outfitter hunter orange hats available for purchase on the day of as well.

We also have shotguns and ammunition available for hunters who may not have their own.

How Long is a day of bird hunting?

Most trips will last between 2-4 hours depending on the size of your group and the number of birds you would like stocked. We can tailor the trips to your group’s physical capabilities and are happy to cover less ground or spread the birds out for more hiking.

What do i need to bring?

The beauty of bird hunting is its minimalism. That being said, you will want to have a few things to make sure you have an enjoyable hunt.

-Hiking boots or shoes. Any comfortable hiking boots will work well in the terrain we will be hunting.

-Eye Protection. We have extra safety glasses, but if you have a favorite pair of sunglasses, we recommend you wear them.

-Hunter Orange vest and hat. Safety is paramount so we require all hunters have on an orange vest and orange hat. We have vests and hats that you can borrow at no cost. If you would like to purchase a hat on the day of your hunt, we have orange hunting hats available.

-Weather appropriate clothing. The weather during our season will vary from warm late Summer weather in September to downright cold (and possibly snowy) in December. We are happy to discuss the best clothing prior to your hunt.

DO i need a license?

No. Because we are hunting stocked birds on a semi-wild area, a Utah hunting license is not required. We will have a talk about the group’s experience level prior to the hunt and will make sure all hunters, experienced and new, are on the same page when it comes to safety.
